Requirements
Current Colorado RVT credential — because “I’ve watched a lot of YouTube” is not technically a credential.
Real ER/ICU experience — this is not the shift to learn what a CRI is.
Comfortable with critical patients, unstable patients, and patients who have apparently decided that dying is inconvenient.
Able to confidently place IV catheters, draw blood, monitor anesthesia, manage oxygen therapy, calculate CRIs, and generally keep your cool when the ICU gets spicy.
Comfortable working alongside ER doctors, criticalists, surgeons, internists, cardiologists, and other specialists.
Able to prioritize multiple patients without requiring someone to tell you which fire to put out first.
Strong communication skills and the ability to speak up when something doesn't look right.
Comfortable with overnight hours: 7:30 PM–8:00 AM.
Dependable. If you commit to a shift, we need you to actually show up. Revolutionary concept, we know.
Team-oriented and willing to jump in wherever needed. “That’s not my patient” is not really an ICU philosophy.
Bonus points for being able to laugh at yourself, function on caffeine, and maintain a sense of humor at 3 a.m.
